With Great Gatsby fever hitting Ireland this week, one rejected Dragons Den Contestant isn’t giving up & now offers the 1920’s service to any bride & groom to be with a distinctive Irish feel. The “HighNelly Wedding Service” will serve your guests with ice cream from a genuine 1921 Irish built Hercules ice cream tricycle, give your photographs that perfect period backdrop with bride & groom bikes, again both built in the 1920’s here at home & serve traditional candy to the children from a hand cart.
The idea came from the Mannering family in Cappamore Co Limerick who have single handedly rejuvenated the iconic bikes from scrap heaps & see a bright future with what we all once knew & maybe miss, a little nostalgia & History built on home soil almost a decade ago.
“We have been restoring HighNelly bikes from scrap condition to their original glory for almost four years now & we export to 13 Countries outside Ireland” explained Marty Mannering who took the idea to the Dragons Den without success in 2011. “We have a fleet of six HighNelly ice cream trikes now covering the Country & twelve bride & groom bikes, all from the early 1900’s.”
With bookings now exceeding expectations, plans to employ & expand across the Country with the initiative will give employment opportunities to willing applicants & keep the HighNelly brand growing into Europe.
